Shine Don't Hide

One evening I came across a podcast encouraging us stop comparing our weaknesses to other's strengths. Instead we need to rejoice in their accomplishments and acknowledge our own gifts. While listening, the following interaction played out in my head:

I don't know what my gifts are.
Yes you do.  You just doubt yourself.
How do I stop doing that?
…I need to stop putting my worth on other people's opinions of it. All that matters is your opinion.
Okay but Lord often times my work is some little earthly thing like a keychain project and I'm so proud of it but do you really care about something like that?
Did you do it for me?
Wow, okay so if I am truly doing everything for you than the opinions of others won't matter.
Okay so what about my blog then?
Are you doing it for me?
Yes… so in that case what’s the point of putting it out there if no one else's opinion matters.
